Now when Murdock's Tabloidism Quitting the Stage

It reveals that Murdock has used the journalists as his private soldiers illegal for his desires. It is not important whether Murdock has had a deep relation with the hacking. The really evil thing is he did tabloid journalism

News media have public nature, which is a feature clearly different from the other corporations. The news, analysis, and column themselves give impact on societies and the world.

As a matter of fact, owners of news media are apt to become an absolute magnate like Murdock, whom everybody is flattering or trembling in the front of. All the celebrities were afraid of Murdock’s two tabloids. The overused the power, and at last drank the lethal poisonous glass, the hacking.

Could it be said that Murdock’s two tabloids have only been loyal in satisfying the people’s curiosity? Almost all people have some flaws, let alone celebrities. It cannot be exempt from cruelly reporting private lives of celebrities or even general people, as the mass like the sensational stories. The freedom of the press is not guaranteed unlimitedly.

It is surprised as Korea’s journalist that the tabloid exploited a private investigator customarily. In Korea, such a job of private investigators is not permitted because of the abuse or misuse. I thought the rejection of private investigators’ introduction is a little excessive concern, but this hacking case changed my generosity. The private investigator is playing to a linkage between the news media and the police, though they should balance and check each other. It is a very threatening thing to democracy.

The general level of journalism of the advanced countries like Britain and U.S.A is much better than the one of Korea, especially in terms of detailed accuracy and several, objective facts. They, however, have a blemish, that is tabloids. In Eastern morality-ethics standard, sensationalism of tabloids seems similar to pornography, which expresses obsessive desires.

Westerners, whether intellectuals or grass-rooters, are likely to easily forget the virtue of balance. They crazily like or dislike celebrities. In Eastern societies, general people think that they themselves are able to become celebrities, especially in Korea and China. The Koreans and Chinese ended their dynasties about 100 years ago. Koreans do not show obsession with celebrities. Honestly whenever I see the Sun during visiting Britain, I felt disgusting about the cover. I always admire British quality broadsheets very much.

The worst point of sensational journalism is to dismantle the societies gradually and continuously, and as a result the competitiveness and community spirit of societies are falling down. All the human-made institutions and regimes have to be corrupt and degraded so that they must be remedied or punished in case of being deviated on the balanced road.

In Korea, too, sensational tabloids exist, but they have little effects on our society. Because their reports are not believed by anyone. The reports’ titles are boisterous, but have little concrete facts, full of guessing. Murdock’s tabloids did work too well, even mobilizing hacking. It might be good to their revenue, but surely be the worst to the society and people. (The end)
